When helping my daughters decorate their city apartment, not only is choosing the right scale furniture important, but also having enough storage. Here, you can see the ottoman is a great multipurpose piece~a place to rest your feet, occasionally an additional seat & great source for storage. Sofa, footrest & chair are all from IKEA & have been great. Slipcovers are machine washable, hang dry & they look great!
With very little storage space in their little apartment (not even a pantry or coat closet!), they have had to get creative with different ways to keep organized. Here are some of our favorite storage ideas for small spaces:
- To tidy up an overflowing bookshelf, remove a few of the classics & stack together (as seen here); use to decorate a coffee or side table
- Store cozy blankets in a large wicker basket
- Use a pretty bucket for magazines & easy to access
- Pretty stackable boxes to store craft supplies (& so much more)
- This storage ottoman from Ikea is perfect for storing extra blankets, books, movies and/or board games
The apartment is a warm and cozy place to come home to.
